EH402 Week3 Presentation

Well, this one isn't really well done...for my part. This is a collaboration work with Mr. Wheeler; and as we have already circulated this material in class, I see no problem putting it up here now.

The base material of this presentation is R.H. Bates "The International Coffee Organization: An International Institution" in R.H. Bates et al Analytic Narratives (1998) pp 194-230.

Some Technical Issues

The whole point of using a blog to post our summaries and essays is that it is rather easy to do. However, I do realize that there might still be some technical problems hanging around; and as I am a techie kind of person by nature, I sometimes do tend to make things a bit too complicated for some of you.

First thing first, you will need a Google account in order to post. If you don't, you can easily get one. I have sent you the invitations to become authors of this blog, and I think it's fairly straight forward to set up an account for posting. (No offence here if you find it difficult; I haven't checked the setting-up process myself yet.)

Posting is the easiest thing to do. I know some of you use Microsoft Word to take notes while you read. When you've finished, just copy and paste. If you have problems getting your content to look right on the blog, please feel free to email me.

You might have noticed that I attached some PDF files in my posts. This is a service provided by Scribd. In the future I will post some screenshots to ease your pain on getting this service to work. (Trust me, it's easy!)

There is a section on the right-hand side which reads 'Subscribe Here!' It means you can use some kind of a feed reader to monitor any new posts on this blog, instead of having to actually visit the blog. Anyway, if you don't know what a subscription is, it is easier to visit here on a regular basis.

The comment system is not the original one provided by Blogger. I have changed it to IntenseDebate, which is supposedly easier to keep track of. You can sign up for a free account on IntenseDebate, preferably using the so-called OpenID. Anyway, if you don't know what I am talking about, and do not have enough interest to find out, you will still be able to comment! That's the point.

I will elaborate in the future. I don't want you to be scared away by computer technology. What is important is the content.
